Am I ready?
Not. Even. Close.
Literally. So, dear readers, that is where you come in. If you've had a baby, or just happen to know a lot about them, where did you register?
Also, what items did you get for your baby that you are loving? Clothing options, strollers, carseats, etc. I need advice on all of it.
Thank you in advance!
Also, just for giggles, I thought I would include my latest pregnancy experience. I had to go to the hospital for a routine shot since I am rH negative. To get the shot, I had to go to labor and delivery. They had us wait in one of the actual rooms. Well, while we are sitting there, the woman in the room next to us is in labor. And she is screaming! These weren't just any screams either. I have never heard another woman make these sounds. They were lmost animalistic. My face must have registered my horror because the three nurses start laughing and say to me, "Oh, don't worry!"
Right.
And here are some funny pregnancy t-shirts that a friend of mine sent me for your viewing pleasure...

i made a list of baby items for a friend. i explained what everything is and whether or not you need it/what you use it for. let me know if you want it! email me at lisa.bellisario(at)gmail(dot)com
a stand up swing was a real blessing for us, but not all babies love it. something to try, though, if you have a crier.
I just got this PERFECT stroller like a week ago. I'm INLOVE with it. It's a phil and Teds stroller (google it). the thing I LOVE about it is this is the only stroller you will ever need. That includes even when you have multiple kids. You will soon find out that once you have a baby you accumulate multiple strollers (umbrella, jogging, double, carseat adaptable)- but this stroller does it all. it converts from a single stroller to a double, compacts so small that it takes up hardly any room in your trunk. it's a jogging stroller, and you can get the car seat adapter for it. It's a little more money, but definitely worth it. I just bought mine new on ebay for $275. I sold all my other strollers (3 of them) and it paid for it!
Whitney, first of all I am so excited for you! You will be the best momma! Secondly, people are going to tell you to buy all kinds of things and it gets to be a little overwhelming. Just stick to the basics right now (stuff for sleeping, eating, changing, bathing) and you'll figure the rest out after trying things yourself and seeing what works best for you. I just remember feeling like I'll NEVER have everything I need, and it turns out that I didn't need everything out there. Good luck with everything!!! (PS- my #1 baby item was a bouncer)
I really loved my swaddleme! I think it really helped with Eva's sleeping. She always seemed to break out of the swaddles I made for her.
Don't worry about having the baby, you'll be just fine, and then afterwards you will have a beautiful baby to snuggle with and love!
I posted and then wanted to add one more item: a really great book called Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby by Marc Weissbluth. It helped me understand the sleep that babies need.
I'm not the best resource for tips in this department, but it was so nice to see you at Catherine's shower - as brief as it was. You looked great! I hope you enjoyed your spring break!
I registerd at Target and Babies -R-Us. I got a lot more from people from Target but the return policy at Babies-r-us is awesome. You can get anything there and use them and if your baby doesn't like it you can take it back! I bought a ton of different bottles to see which one Cambri liked the most and returned the ones she didn't take. Items I love are: craddle swing, swaddle me or halo sack, the first year breastflow bottles (amazing for if your breastfeeding and using a bottle), her favorite pacifier is the avent ones, water proof changing table clothes (then if he pees on it you dont have to change the whole changing pad), the books Babywise and What to Expect The First Year, Lansinoh Lanolin cream (make sure to put it on every time after you nurse so your nipples don't get sore at the beginning. Medilla double electric breast pump (I bought one used on KSL and then got a new starter pack at the store with the bottles and such), She hasn't really gotten into toys yet so I don't know on that part but she love's the vibrator on the bouncer,a nd I'm loving my Chicco stroller and carseat. The carseat is so easy to install and just clips in. Hope this helps!
I registered at Babies R Us and Target. A swing is really great to have so you can get some things done and most babies love the swing. Oneies for summer are great! SwaddleMe blankets are a must-have and especially the swaddling blankets (Aden+Anais-made out of muslim) from Target. Graco carseats are the safest--that was #1 on my list. I love the travel system (carseat and stroller) we have and it's Graco. Although, a convertible carseat might be a good thing to have now because the American Academy of Pediatrics says babies should stay rear-facing til 2 yrs or when they grow out of their rear-facing carseat. This may seem like a lot, but just remember the only thing you need to have right when he is born, is a carseat!
Whitney! You are the most beautiful pregnant person I've ever seen. And I recommend a jogging stroller. I love mine. And if you are willing to spend the big bucks, the Phil and Teds or the Bob are great. Make sure you can put a car seat in it though since for the first few months they can't go in a stroller without the infant seat.
Whitney, it has been a while since you've blogged proven by the fact that exactly 2 months later, I am leaving a second comment on this post. I apologize. But, I wanted to thank you for your note! It meant so much to me. It was so nice of you to send it, and it was so fun to see you! I loved hearing your laugh and stories again! It brought back many fun memories. You are such a great friend and one of the best looking pregnant mothers I've ever seen! I just came across this (http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=11552888) and thought I would pass it along. So glad this isn't you, pretty shocking. Love, miffy.
