Love Him

This cute husband of mine is going to make the sweetest, most adorable and loving Daddy in the world. I honestly can't wait to watch him with our little son. He's been practicing with his nieces and nephews for years and is already a superstar in their books.

Seriously, pregnancy has taken my love for my husband to a completely different level. I am ashamed to admit that I have, at times, been "one of those" pregnant girls, bombarding my husband with questions like:

Do I look bigger to you?

Is my face getting fatter?

Walk behind me. Am I waddling yet?

You think stretch marks are beautiful, right?

Poor man. He's always been patient, but I think I've stretched even his limits. And yet, throughout the doctor's appointments, meltdowns, birthing videos, breathing practice at our prenatal class, and hormonal roller coasters, he has been unfailingly loving, supportive, supremely patient, and understanding.

He never makes me feel like I have to say "I'm sorry" (even though I do quite often to assuage my guilty conscience). He made dinner almost every night for about 7 months, basically took over the cleaning of the apartment while I was still teaching, painted my toenails when it started to get too uncomfortable to bend over, and has satisfied many random cravings (like last night's desperate run for a maple donut!).

I love...
  • that he tries to palm my stomach like a basketball.
  • when he talks to the baby through my stomach and tells him to "cute-n" up in there (since we are paranoid about having ugly kids)
  • that he wants to give our kids pots, pans, and cardboard boxes to play with, ostensibly to make them use their imaginations, but really to save on money and space in our apartment
  • that we both constantly watch the little kids that we encounter at Church, the store, the park, wherever. It's especially fun when they are screaming and we look at each other and laugh like, "Oh boy! Bring it on!"

I love him more than ever before and I know that I will fall more deeply in love with him as I watch him become a Daddy. What a lucky little boy to get to have Jeff for a Dad.

But, sorry little boy Goold, turns out that I'm still the luckiest one in this family to have him for my husband.

Three years down and eternity to go. I can't wait!
