The Simple Things

On Monday night, Jeff and I went for a walk through some neighborhoods and ended up at Provo's Veteran Memorial. Quite fitting, with the 4th of July coming up. On one side of the monument are etched the words of Abraham Lincoln to a Mrs. Bixby, who was believed to have lost 5 sons in the Civil War. The last section of the letter read:

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

A. Lincoln

Wow. We are truly indebted to so many for the freedoms we enjoy.

On our way home, Jeff and I couldn't resist grabbing hands and running though sprinklers at the park. A little taste of childhood with the one I love best.

That is so cool. What a great way to celebrate the 4th of July. I can't imagine losing 1 child- let alone 5. Pretty funny that you guys ran through the sprinklers! That is my kids favorite thing to do these days.

Happy 4th! Okay, must see pics of the new abode. How fun is it to have a place of your own?!
